Akira Volume 5 is a continuation of the ever-insane world of Neo-Tokyo. The plot is thickened with everyone fighting and no one knowing whose side they are really on. The character of Tetsuo is the stand-out bonkers performer while Kaneda is back in the fold and Kei is revealed as a powerful medium. The title character, Akira, still barely has any presence. However, the storytelling and artwork in this volume are beyond exceptional. The combination of sci-fi, post-apocalyptic world, and comic book action is a thrilling ride.
