The Ringworld Engineers by Larry Niven is a worthy successor to the first novel Ringworld. Niven's imagination of the universe is marvelous, and his writing style keeps the adventure moving at a fast pace. However, the story occasionally jumps about without preamble, requiring rereading of parts. This book should be read only after reading Ringworld because the first book better lays out what this universe is about. The characters are Constantly sparring with each other, trusting, not trusting, saving, deceiving, guessing, helping, and discussing, making the action huge and Consistent. The book is overwhelmed by the story's scope, and the concepts get bigger and bigger, making it an absolutely superb read.
