In terms of gain and phantom power, a Focusrite preamp is sufficient. You could use this microphone with a Scarlett and a dbx compressor without issue. To connect the microphone to your PC for recording voice, you require an interface device for phantom power supply. The mic is a neutral one with a brighter tone can be EQ'd as you like. It is quieter than many other mics in quiet studio settings. You can adjust the db pad settings or reduce the recording volume if the red light is not coming on when it is clipping.

- Very crisp and extremely quiet recordings, without any white noise.
- Maintains pad/rolloff settings even if the microphone is disconnected from phantom power and reconnected later.
- A clear and larger than life, almost HD quality sound.
- Rejects external sounds well, even with its high input sensitivity.
Cons
- Sensitive enough to pick up sibilance, so you'll want sound dampening in your environment to use it to its full potential.
