A: Three to four thin coats are recommended, keeping the surface wet until rust is fully converted for best performance. Â Q: Do I need to sand before applying? A: Remove loose scale and excess rust first. Do NOT sand down to bare metal; Rust Mort is intended to convert rust. After treatment, excess material must be rinsed off and surface fully dried before overcoating. Â Q: Can filler or primer be used directly over treated surface? A: Yes.
