久木田 寛直 Editorial Review
The "Makeblock official Let's enjoy with mBot! Robot Programming Tankobon" is a comprehensive resource tailored predominantly for elementary school children venturing into the world of robotics and programming. The book, while visually appealing and user-friendly, has received mixed feedback regarding its effectiveness with different versions of the mBot, particularly when comparing it to the mBot2. Many reviewers commend the book for its clear illustrations and gentle explanations, making it accessible even for younger audiences, potentially down to preschoolers with parental assistance. The first half of the book effectively outlines the mBot's features and provides step-by-step guidance for setup, including software installation instructions for both Windows and Mac systems. This early portion is appreciated for its clarity, particularly the visual nature of the instructions which include operational photos and screencaps. However, the latter part of the book focuses heavily on collaborative activities between parents and children, which is beneficial for encouraging hands-on learning. Nevertheless, users noted that it lacks a thorough reference guide or index for quick look-up, making it difficult for those seeking detailed operational commands. This could limit its utility as a standalone manual for advanced programming tasks. While the book is Considered a solid introduction to robotic programming, some users highlighted gaps in content, especially for those who have transitioned to mBot2, where the programming environment slightly differs. Despite this drawback, many appreciate the fundamental programming skills it helps foster, making it a valuable tool aligned with contemporary educational needs. In summary, while it effectively serves as a beginner's guide to the mBot, users are encouraged to have some prior knowledge or experience with Scratch programming to maximize the learning experience and avoid frustration during the building and coding processes. **
