English Edition Henri Cartier-Bresson (Photographer) Individual Artists Editorial Review
The "Henri Cartier-Bresson: The Decisive Moment" hardcover edition has received mixed reactions from customers, with many praising its content but voicing significant concerns about its physical quality. Readers, especially photographers looking to enhance their skills, appreciate the collection of iconic images that showcase Bresson's unparalleled talent in capturing decisive moments. This classic photographic compilation is deemed a must-read, with many agreeing that despite its flaws, it remains an excellent value compared to previous editions, which are often priced exorbitantly. However, multiple reviews highlight substantial issues related to the book's binding and overall physical condition. Many customers report poor bookbinding practices, resulting in pages that cannot lie flat for easier viewing. Issues like pages being stuck together, and several iconic photographs being split across two pages detract from the viewing experience. The smaller format of the book, measuring only 17x23 cm, has also been criticized for lacking the grandeur and impact of earlier editions. Additionally, reviewers noted that the quality of the printing was not up to the standards expected, with yellowish paper affecting the representation of Bresson's images and an overall lack of attention to quality control from the publisher. In summary, while "The Decisive Moment" is celebrated for its profound contributions to the world of photography through Bresson's remarkable work, the physical execution of this particular edition leaves much to be desired. **
