Seneler senesi bu korkuyu yazmak istedim diyor.Romanının başkahramanları olan Posta Müdürü Remzi Bey ve karısı Melek Hanım'ın çileli yolculuğundan ve o dönem için şartları çok daha ağır olan postacılık mesleğinden bahseden Yaşar Kemal, O dönemde Anadolu'da postacıdan daha önemli bir kişi yoktu. Özellikle benim için postacı çok önemliydi. O zaman bana mektuplar geliyordu. Bu mektupları benden önce jandarmalar okuyordu. Bazen makale yazar gazeteye göndermek isterdim. Bu makaleler bazen gider, bazen de gitmezdi diye ekliyor.
