    Comedy Editorial Review

**** "Do The Right Thing," directed by Spike Lee, is a seminal film that captures the tensions and complexities of a Brooklyn neighborhood on one scorching summer day. The narrative revolves around Sal, played by Danny Aiello, who has run his pizzeria in a predominantly African American community for over two decades. As the day unfolds, Sal finds himself at odds with not only his resentful son, Pino (John Turturro), but also a host of diverse neighborhood characters, including Mookie, played by Lee himself. This film deftly intertwines humor and tragedy, prompting viewers to wrestle with moral dilemmas surrounding race and community dynamics. The film's strength lies in its ensemble cast, showcasing actors like Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, and Rosie Perez early in their careers. The vibrant cinematography by Ernest Dickerson, who adopts a yellow hue to enhance the heat of the day, is beautifully preserved in this remastered Blu-ray edition. The film's soundtrack is equally iconic, featuring Public Enemy's "Fight the Power," which underscores the struggles portrayed onscreen. Critics acknowledge the powerful audio mix and visually striking presentation in this latest release, highlighting it as one of the best renditions for film enthusiasts. Although some characters may verge on caricature, the film's exploration of racial identity and community is poignant and relevant, providing a mirror to the ongoing discussions about race relations in America. Spike Lee’s commentary adds depth, showcasing his unique directorial vision and artistic flair. "Do The Right Thing" not only marks a high point in Lee’s career but also stands as a modern classic that deserves a place in film collections everywhere. **
