- This book includes PLC Hardware and Programming Multi-Platform, which is a generic treatment of PLC programmingThis book covers the Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal platforms. It provides information on the hardware and software for both, including communication setup. A list of the platform instruction set is included. Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and program structure is also discussedThe Step 7 section discusses the file and data structure of the platform and gives examples of different routines. All of the 12 programming exercises from the Multi-Platform book are answered using Step 7. Examples of input and output structures, sequences and faults are provided, The TIA Portal section describes the differences between Step 7 and TIA Portal, providing examples of various common system functions for mode control. Arrays, UDTs and indirect addressing are covered, and a variety of examples are provided for different types of routine. An additional 21 exercises with solutions are included with mapping, recipe and part tracking, communications, trending, PID and more. Examples of all IEC 61131-3 languages are shown.
