The Andromeda Anthology combines both novels in one edition. The story revolves around mankind receiving a message from outer space which leads to trouble threatening life on Earth. The book was first published in the 1960s and reflects the emerging technologies of that era. The key element of the story is the computer which is now outdated, so younger readers might not understand some of the descriptions. The story can get melodramatic towards the end with a cliff-hanger ending. The book is interesting but the story and characters are a bit unlikely. However, it's an enjoyable read.
